Security concerns and crime in Tolosa
Overview
Residents of the Tolosa neighborhood have engaged in ongoing protests and reported increasing criminal activity. In early August, community members organized by the Asamblea Vecinal de Tolosa held demonstrations to demand increased police presence and permanent patrols. Protesters cited a surge in robberies, assaults, and vehicle break-ins, including attacks by armed motorcyclists and the looting of a children’s club.
By late August, the insecurity escalated to include the theft of utility meters. These incidents, concentrated near 120 between 526 and 527 streets, followed previous thefts of copper and bronze pipes. Local neighborhood associations noted that these thefts cause both economic loss and safety risks by leaving residents without essential services.
