Security infrastructure and training in Morocco and Algeria

Overview

In Morocco, Director General of National Security Abdellatif Hammouchi has implemented significant reforms to police training. Following decrees published in Official Bulletin number 7553, the restructuring involves the Royal Police Institute in Kenitra, the creation of a Higher Institute of Security Sciences in Ifrane, and the establishment of a forensic science institute in Rabat.

The reforms redefine the administrative structure of the Royal Police Institute by introducing new departments for health, social action, and general discipline and personal development. The pedagogical framework has been expanded to include training schools for peace officers in Marrakech and Casablanca, with a curriculum divided into four specialized tracks: public security, judicial police, general intelligence, and human and financial resource management.

Additionally, the new organizational structure aims to enhance scientific research and criminal expertise. The Higher Institute of Security Sciences will focus on advanced training, innovation, and applied security studies, while the new forensic institute will manage scientific laboratories and modern technologies for processing criminal evidence.

Simultaneously, in Algeria, the Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, inaugurated new police structures in the Boumerdes province. These developments include two urban security headquarters in Merzouga and Ben Turkia, along with a 64-bed dormitory in Ouled Hedadj, aimed at enhancing security capabilities and service quality.
