SEGA has launched a closed network test for ‘Crazy Taxi: World Tour’, a new installment in the classic driving series helmed by original creator Kenji Kanno. While the game is not scheduled for release until 2027, the test provided a preview of its expanded multiplayer focus, featuring modes such as ‘Pickup Race’ and ‘Cops’n Cabbies’. The game’s global campaign follows the protagonist, Axel, on an international adventure to recover his stolen taxi from masked villains. During the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast, SEGA unveiled a Japan-based map, which will serve as the third of five locations in the single-player campaign. This setting aims to blend modern urban environments, such as skyscrapers and expressways, with historic neighborhoods. To enhance authenticity, the map will feature real-world Japanese brands including ICHIRAN, Kani Doraku, and SHIBUYA109. Beyond standard passenger transport, players can engage in side missions such as stunt challenges and pizza delivery. During the Brasil Game Show (BGS) 2026, Director Kenji Kanno revealed further details regarding the campaign's global settings. Brazil has been confirmed as one of the five major maps, ~~featuring iconic~~ serving as the fourth environment in the single-player campaign.
