The National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi) has issued updated weather forecasts for various regions across Peru.
Initial reports highlighted the country’s climatic diversity, noting cloudy conditions in Lima with temperatures between 20°C and 24°C, alongside temperate coastal regions, sunny but cold highland areas, and warm, rainy jungle zones.
Subsequent updates provided more specific regional warnings. While Lima remained cloudy, the Puno region was reported to have clear skies and a higher thermal sensation of heat. However, officials issued warnings for intense solar radiation and nocturnal frosts in high-altitude areas such as Mazocruz. In the Carabaya and Sandia jungle zones, temperatures were expected to reach between 32°C and 35°C, leading to recommendations to prevent heatstroke. Additionally, an 80% probability of light to moderate rainfall was forecasted for parts of the Puno region between September 4 and September 9.
