Senegal investment fund activities
Overview
Senegal is seeing active movement in specialized investment funds aimed at economic development. The Fonds d’appui à l’investissement des Sénégalais de l’extérieur (Faise) has recovered 250 million FCFA through its ‘Lepto, Fayto’ campaign, which has been targeting debt recovery across 45 countries since 2025. These recovered funds are intended to replenish the institution’s revolving mechanism for diaspora-led projects.
Concurrently, the Islamic Recovery Fund (FIR), a subsidiary of FONSIS, has reached 7.5 billion CFAF ($13 million) in total investments as of September 2026. The FIR utilizes Islamic financing mechanisms to support small and medium-sized enterprises. Recent commitments include 600 million CFAF distributed among four companies in sectors such as food processing, agriculture, textiles, healthcare, and education to modernize equipment and expand infrastructure.
