Senegal repatriation of citizens from abroad

Senegalese authorities have initiated repatriation operations to assist citizens facing hardships and security threats abroad.

In South Africa, the repatriation follows escalating xenophobic tensions and anti-migrant sentiment in cities such as Johannesburg and Durban. Initial groups of Senegalese nationals, including women and children, have arrived at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar. The Senegalese government, through the Bureau d’Accueil, d’Orientation et de Suivi (BAOS) and other agencies, has organized reception protocols to provide humanitarian, administrative, and security support to these returnees.

In addition to the South African operations, Senegal is facilitating the return of migrants from Morocco. A convoy of 120 individuals, who were intercepted or rescued at sea by the Moroccan Royal Navy, is scheduled to travel by land through Mauritania to reach the Senegalese border town of Rosso. Consular reports indicate that hundreds of other Senegalese nationals remain in migrant centers in southern Morocco awaiting similar voluntary return operations.
