The 2026 summer travel season concluded with significant traffic volumes and ongoing infrastructure maintenance. Anas reported 485 million transits on its network between 16 July and 6 September. Infrastructure maintenance has expanded into mid-September with widespread highway and urban service disruptions, including scheduled nighttime closures on the A1, A12, A14, and A24. In October, major highway maintenance continued. On the A8 Milano-Varese, nightly closures affected the Lainate, Busto Arsizio, and Gallarate exits.
