Severe storms and tornadoes in New South Wales

Overview

On October 3, 2026, severe storms and tornadoes struck the New South Wales South Coast and the Goulburn district. In Ulladulla, a tornado caused significant property damage, including roofs being torn from homes, shattered windows in the central business district, and boats being lifted from moorings. The Bureau of Meteorology noted wind gusts increased rapidly, and the State Emergency Service (SES) responded to dozens of incidents in the area.

In the Goulburn district, a mini-tornado with estimated winds of 110km/h uprooted at least 84 trees and damaged multiple houses. Cleanup efforts involved local farmers, council crews, and SES volunteers. Following the destruction, SES units in Nowra, St Georges Basin, and Ulladulla scheduled community open days to provide residents with information on storm and flood preparedness.
