Sexual assault investigations in Suriname and Morocco

Overview

The reported incidents involve separate criminal investigations in different regions.

In Suriname, police in Moengo detained a sixteen year old boy on suspicion of sexually abusing a thirteen year old girl in the village of Akalekondre. The mother reported the matter after being alerted by a relative and viewing video footage. The suspect was transferred to the Opa Doeli Youth Transition Center for investigation by the Youth Affairs department.

In Morocco, authorities in Inzegane arrested three individuals suspected of luring, drugging, and sexually assaulting a 16 year old girl. The victim was found sedated on a street in Ait Melloul after being reported missing. Investigations suggest the suspects allegedly lured the girl into a vehicle and took her to an isolated area in the El Gualia district, where it is suspected she was provided with narcotics before the assault. The suspects remain in custody.
