Sexual harassment incidents on German regional trains
Overview
German federal police are investigating several incidents of sexual harassment and physical assault occurring on regional trains.
In one case from June 2026, a 36-year-old man is under investigation for sexually harassing a 21-year-old woman and assaulting a male passenger on a train traveling from Uffing am Staffelsee toward Starnberg. The suspect reportedly struck a passenger at Weilheim station. Authorities are seeking a male victim, described as being between 25 and 35 years old, approximately 175 to 180 cm tall, with short black hair and a black beard.
A separate incident occurred on September 6, 2026, on a regional train (RE5) traveling between Freilassing and Munich. A man is sought for allegedly touching two women, aged 31 and 37, and attempting to lean against them before fleeing at Munich Ostbahnhof. Police believe there may be additional victims.
