Pakistan has begun organizational preparations for the 2027 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of State Summit, slated to be hosted in Islamabad. In August 2025, Pakistan’s National Coordinator for SCO Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Faisal, met with representatives from Russia, Iran, China, and India to discuss chairmanship requirements. As the organization approaches its 25th anniversary, the 26th SCO summit is being held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from August 31 to September 1. The summit is expected to produce the ‘Bishkek Jubilee Declaration’ and will include an SCO Plus meeting with various partners and observers.
