Shen Po-yang, the Democratic Progressive Party candidate for Taipei mayor, has begun formalizing his campaign strategy. He initially unveiled his ‘HEART’ platform, which focuses on five pillars: Habitat, Time, Accompany, Empower, and Resilience. This platform addresses urban issues such as housing, commuting, elderly accessibility, youth entrepreneurship, and urban management. Following the platform launch, the campaign expanded its operations by appointing two new spokespersons, Tsai Yi-kai and Lin Yu-tung, intended to serve as “bridges to the public.” Additionally, the campaign introduced ‘Ocean Current’ (Yangliu) merchandise, including apparel and accessories, offered through a donation-based scheme to fund the electoral bid. Shen has now officially registered his candidacy for Mayor of Taipei alongside DPP candidates for the city council. The registration was attended by former President Tsai Ing-wen, who presented Shen with a ship’s helm as a symbol of leadership. Tsai compared urban governance to navigating a ship and noted that Shen’s national security background would assist in identifying potential crises. Shen stated his vision is to transform Taipei into a global city comparable to Seoul, Tokyo, London, and New York, pledging to focus on child safety, urban planning, and economic vitality.
