Shenzhen man hospitalized for food poisoning

Overview

A man in Shenzhen, China, was hospitalized in critical condition after consuming instant noodles that had been opened approximately two years prior. The individual, identified by the pseudonym Xiao Jia, experienced severe abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and a fever of nearly 40 degrees Celsius.

After an initial attempt to treat the symptoms with old medication, the man was rushed to Longhua District People's Hospital. Medical tests revealed that his liver enzymes had increased more than 10 times the normal level, indicating serious liver damage. Doctors identified mold toxins in the patient's samples as the cause of the illness.
