Overview

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders were detained in Chandigarh during a protest march targeting Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The protest, which included MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal and MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia, demanded the Chief Minister’s resignation and criminal investigations into his wife, Gurpreet Kaur, and her brother-in-law, Amardeep Singh.

The SAD alleges that Gurpreet Kaur and Amardeep Singh were involved in a corruption scheme involving Rs 5 crore to suppress a rape and kidnapping case. The SAD has submitted a 300-page dossier to the Punjab Governor calling for a CBI inquiry.
