Shooting and recovery of Nigerian comedian Broda Shaggi

Overview

Nigerian comedian and actor Samuel Animashaun Perry, professionally known as Broda Shaggi, has emerged from a months-long hiatus following a shooting incident in March 2026. The incident occurred while Perry was filming or conducting a brand activation near the Sango Ota Bridge in Ogun State.

Perry described the event as “a day in my life I wished never happened,” noting that he lost consciousness after being struck by a stray bullet. He was subsequently treated at hospitals in the Alakuko area and Lagos. The Lagos State Police Command confirmed they were alerted to the incident via a report from a private hospital.

The injury resulted in a seven-month absence from professional activities, during which Perry faced emotional strain and concerns regarding his ability to perform his signature dance and drumming routines. During his recovery, he attempted to remain productive by writing scripts and starting a YouTube series.
