Singapore is experiencing a transformation in its labor market driven by artificial intelligence adoption. Data from PwC’s 2026 Global AI Jobs Barometer indicates a shift toward AI-user roles, which now outnumber AI developer roles by a ratio of four to one. Approximately 82% of AI-related job postings in the country are for users, with demand increasing in sectors such as finance, marketing, and operations.
To address these changes, national initiatives like the ISCA AI Fluency Programme are working to train professionals in applying AI to technical roles like audit and tax. While AI adoption among large firms has reached 62.5%, adoption among small and medium-sized enterprises has tripled to 14.5% over the past year.
Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong has advised that the government and workforce must proactively prepare for potential job disruptions. Although recent Ministry of Manpower data shows a resilient labor market, Gan emphasized the importance of supporting workers in transitioning to new roles before automation causes prolonged unemployment issues.
