Croatian Olympic rowers Martin and Valent Sinković traveled to Amsterdam to compete in the men’s coxless pair at the World Rowing Championships. After spending a season in the coxless four, the brothers returned to the coxless pair, following a season that included a gold medal in Plovdiv and a bronze medal at the European Championships. During the championships, the Sinković brothers failed to qualify for the A final. Although they recorded the fastest time of the championship during the semifinals with a time of 6:33.64, they finished fourth in their heat after being overtaken by crews from the Netherlands, Serbia, and Spain. As a result, the triple Olympic champions were moved to the B final to compete for seventh through twelfth place. Martin Sinković attributed some of the team’s difficulties to challenges faced during preparations, including health issues. In the B final, the Sinković brothers secured a victory with a time of 6:08.67, finishing nearly three seconds ahead of the Portuguese crew of Pedro Rodrigues and Tomas Neves. German rowers Oliver Holtz and Arno Gaus took third place. The win secured a seventh-place overall finish for the brothers, marking the conclusion of their first season back in the coxless pair discipline.
