Sinković brothers at World Rowing Championships

Overview

Croatian Olympic rowers Martin and Valent Sinković traveled to Amsterdam to compete in the men’s coxless pair at the World Rowing Championships. After spending a season in the coxless four, the brothers returned to the coxless pair, following a season that included a gold medal in Plovdiv and a bronze medal at the European Championships.

During the championships, the Sinković brothers failed to qualify for the A final. Although they recorded the fastest time of the championship during the semifinals with a time of 6:33.64, they finished fourth in their heat after being overtaken by crews from the Netherlands, Serbia, and Spain. As a result, the triple Olympic champions were moved to the B final to compete for seventh through twelfth place. Martin Sinković attributed some of the team’s difficulties to challenges faced during preparations, including health issues.

In the B final, the Sinković brothers secured a victory with a time of 6:08.67, finishing nearly three seconds ahead of the Portuguese crew of Pedro Rodrigues and Tomas Neves. German rowers Oliver Holtz and Arno Gaus took third place. The win secured a seventh-place overall finish for the brothers, marking the conclusion of their first season back in the coxless pair discipline.
