Slovak Youth Facing Anxiety and Strain

A series of lectures on Catholic social teaching held in Poland on July 25 gathered Slovak students in their twenties and found the generation describing itself as anxious, fearful and restless, questioning identity, purpose and the possibility of hope.

A day later, a separate report highlighted how urbanisation is reshaping everyday life for young Slovaks. Traditional rural activities such as hunting now require travel and digital tools, while a financial survey showed that many in Generation Z struggle with unaffordable housing, rising living costs and limited savings, prompting calls for greater banking and public‑service support. Together, the snapshots portray Slovak youth confronting both psychosocial uncertainty and economic pressure as the country’s society and economy continue to evolve.
