Slovakia electric vehicle charging infrastructure expansion

Overview

Slovakia has seen developments in both private sector technology and state-led infrastructure planning. The charging network operator ejoin GO launched the country’s first public ultra-fast charging station at the Zlaté Piesky – Východ highway rest area, featuring a power output of up to 1.2 MW. During testing, a Denza Z9 GT achieved a 50% charge in 3 minutes and reached 100% from 14% in 11 minutes and 40 seconds.

Following this technological milestone, the Slovak Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Transport announced a national expansion of the charging network. The state has identified 35 new locations near highways and expressways to support long-distance travel. Minister of Economy Denisa Saková noted that 236 fast chargers have already been constructed, while the new concession project is projected to generate approximately 36 million euros for the state.
