Slovenian municipal development awards

Slovenian municipalities have received various awards recognizing excellence in local government and developmental progress.

In September, the Association of Municipalities of Slovenia (SOS) presented awards during the Development Days of Municipalities in Laško. Gregor Macedoni, the Mayor of Novo Mesto, received the gold sign, the highest recognition, for his contributions to municipal financing, regional development, and state policy. Other recipients included Izidor Jerala, Petr Mišič, and Marko Ruparza for their professional contributions to spatial planning, tourism, and public services.

In October, the Zlati kamen awards highlighted municipal progress based on the ISSO index. The municipality of Sveta Trojica was recognized for a significant rise in the index, moving up 89 places to 33rd position. Additionally, Ajdovščina was named the most progressive municipality, reaching the top spot among all 212 Slovenian municipalities. Mayor Tadej Beočanin credited this achievement to strategic planning and specific projects, including a solar community and a learning center for fruit and herb growing.
