Traffic safety problems in Slovenia have persisted into mid‑2026, mid‑2026. Police data from Gorenjska showed 716 accidents up to 26 May, with one death and 23 serious injuries; drug testing revealed 45 positive results, including a cocaine‑positive truck driver near Škofja Loka. Police data from 13 Ljubljana (July 12). July recorded further 13 saw five serious accidents across several locations and a rise in thefts of bicycles, motorbikes Celje, including an alcohol‑impaired motorcyclist near Mislinja and related items. The pattern continued on 30 July 2026 when police reported several serious e‑scooter multi‑vehicle collisions. In Ljubljana a rider travelling the wrong way on a bike path collided with another scooter rider, sustaining life‑threatening injuries and requiring hospitalization. Earlier that week, incidents in Portorož and nearby villages also involved e‑scooter users and motorists, resulting in arrests for traffic violations, intoxication and drug possession. Police have warned scooter users to obey traffic rules, travel in the correct direction and adjust speed to road conditions. In early Early August 2026 police in reports from the Domžale‑Kamnik area documented additional noted burglaries and further traffic incidents. On 25 July a car driver in Domžale forced priority at incidents, among them an intersection, injuring a cyclist, and later alcohol‑related crash that day an electric‑scooter rider in Depala was found with a blood‑alcohol level of 0.52 mg/L. On 27 July in Mengš a cyclist ran a red light and collided with a car driver. led to licence revocation.
