Key obstacles reported by patients include the underestimation or non-recognition of initial symptoms by 42% of respondents, and difficulties accessing diagnostic tests, particularly in Southern Italy where 52% of patients faced such issues. Furthermore, 37% of patients reported long waiting times for examinations, with the highest concentration in Central Italy at 53%.
The data suggests the disease is often identified in advanced stages, as 17% of patients access the diagnostic pathway through the Emergency Room. Additionally, over half of patients must travel significant distances to reach reference centers, and 72% expressed that better coordination between exams and treatments is a priority. Only 38% of patients felt they had access to all available innovative treatments.
