Smukfest transport services in Denmark
Overview
Midttrafik launched a suite of dedicated “Smuk” buses for the annual Smukfest music festival in Skanderborg, linking the event with nearby cities such as Aarhus, Odder, Horsens, Silkeborg, Galten, Tranbjerg and Solbjerg. The rollout included a direct Aarhus‑to‑festival route (301S) and supplementary services (25S, 26S, 21S) operating throughout the festival period (2–9 August), with ticketing handled via the Rejsekort app or Basiskort.
Within days, the new direct bus quickly became oversubscribed. Passengers reported long queues at the Aarhus stop, especially at Park Allé, and buses ran at full capacity from departure to the festival entrance. Drivers struggled to maintain order amid the crowding. At the same time, riders of the Aarhus‑Grenaa light‑rail complained of severe motion sickness on a segment between Thorsager and Grenaa, where the track runs over former swamp ground, adding to commuter discomfort in the region.
