Overview

Construction of the 14 Bis-Saracura station on São Paulo’s Metro Line 6-Orange was halted following the discovery of archaeological artifacts in the Bixiga district. Following the discovery, the concessionaire Linha Uni suspended work pending guidance from the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan). Iphan subsequently authorized a partial resumption of metro works, allowing engineering activities to continue in areas not directly affected by the archaeological zone. The specific area containing masonry structures, drainage systems, and other remains remains isolated for manual excavation and rescue operations.
