In Argentina and Chile, regional and national authorities are implementing updates to social scholarship and educational assistance programs. In San Clemente, the municipality expanded its student scholarship access by removing grade point average requirements for students in special education or primary education with disabilities. At the national level in Argentina, the Ministry of Human Capital, led by Sandra Pettovello, has opened the second call for the 2026 Becas Progresar program. This initiative provides monthly payments of $35,000, totaling up to $420,000 annually. Eligibility is based on age, citizenship, vaccination status, and a combined family income limit of three Minimum, Vital, and Mobile Salaries (SMVM). Application deadlines vary by category: the mandatory education line closed in early September, while the Higher Education and Nursing lines have deadlines through September 11, 2026. Regarding the Progresar Trabajo program, managed by ANSES and the Ministry of Human Capital, the registration period for vocational training scholarships has been extended until November 27, 2026. The program offers a monthly stipend of $35,000, totaling up to $420,000 over 12 months. For October 2026, the Progresar scholarship payment schedule has been set for October 13 through October 19, organized by the final digit of the beneficiary’s DNI. While the reference monthly amount is $35,000, students in compulsory education or new higher education entrants may receive $28,000, with $7,000 reserved pending academic certification.
