SOLAAL National Agricultural Donation Days in France

Overview

The French association SOLAAL (Solidarité des producteurs agricoles et des filières alimentaires) has initiated its 12th edition of the National Agricultural Donation Days (JNDA), scheduled to run throughout September 2026. Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, the campaign mobilizes farmers, cooperatives, agri-food companies, and wholesalers to donate fresh produce to food-aid charities.

The initiative seeks to mitigate food insecurity, which affects an estimated 7 million people in France, and reduce the annual waste of approximately 9.7 million tonnes of food. SOLAAL reports that 96% of donated items are fresh and distributed via short-supply chains.

As the campaign begins, more than 40 actions are planned across 12 regional branches, including awareness workshops, donation chains at wholesale markets, and solidarity gleaning in fields. The previous 2025 edition provided the equivalent of 1.3 million meals.
