Solana expansion in China
Overview
The Solana Foundation has initiated a physical and promotional presence in China, establishing a new office in the Shanghai Tower within the Lujiazui financial district. This expansion included brand promotion via light shows on the Citibank Tower and the announcement of the ‘Solana Accelerate China’ event series across Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beijing.
Following the office opening, a new legal entity, Shanghai Suolana Enterprise Management Co., Ltd., was established in Shanghai. Led by Claire Du and Even Jiang, the company’s business scope covers technical development, system integration, and event management. While the entity uses a Chinese transliteration of the name, public records show no apparent direct capital relationship between this company and the Solana Foundation or Solana Labs.
The expansion has faced logistical challenges. Several planned developer events, including the ‘Solana Accelerate China 2026’ series, have been postponed. These delays occurred after registration numbers for the Shanghai event reportedly exceeded local authority limits by four times, leading to subsequent postponements for events in Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beijing due to registration surges and capacity concerns.
