Solar infrastructure implementation at MSAC
Overview
The Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) has completed the installation of a 1.3 MW rooftop solar system. Managed by the Next Green Group, the project utilized AIKO’s Comet series All Back Contact (ABC) modules to exceed the original 850 kW tender by more than 50%.
The installation addressed structural complexities, including the venue’s curved roof and various shading obstacles. The shade-tolerant technology enabled a flush-mount design that maximizes energy capture. Operated by the State Electricity Commission, the system is expected to generate over 1 GWh of renewable electricity annually, meeting roughly one-quarter of the facility’s energy needs.
