South Korean biotechnology industry development initiatives
Overview
The Korea Biotechnology Industry Organization has initiated several programs to support the growth and workforce of the domestic biotech and biohealth sectors.
In late August, the organization announced the 17th BioCube startup bootcamp, part of the ‘Venture Playground’ initiative. This program aims to support biotech and healthcare ventures from inception through investment and growth by providing training in business strategy, investment contracts, and funding acquisition.
Following this, in early September, the organization co-hosted the ‘2026 Biohealth Company Integrated Recruitment Briefing’. The event focused on connecting job seekers with companies such as Daesang Corporation, Macrogen, and Boditech Med. During the briefing, industry experts highlighted the growing necessity for candidates to demonstrate competency in using generative AI to solve professional problems.
By September 7, the integration of artificial intelligence into the biohealth job market has become more pronounced. Industry trends indicate that generative AI proficiency is now considered a ‘critical keyword’ alongside specialized technical expertise for job seekers.
