Southern Cone higher education integration

Overview

Educational institutions in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil are advancing regional integration through collaborative efforts. In Paysandú, a binational and trinational conference focused on “regional networks for higher education in transformation,” emphasizing education as a universal human right and a social public good.

In Uruguay, efforts have been made to advance university decentralization through visits to regional centers, aiming to allow students to pursue degrees in their home regions to prevent displacement.

Simultaneously, Argentine and Brazilian universities are strengthening technological and academic ties. This includes student and cultural exchanges at the Universidad Nacional de Hurlingham and the implementation of the Binational Program of Innovative Entrepreneurship and Mentors (PREIM) between the Universidad Nacional de Misiones and the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná. The latter partnership also includes the launch of a double degree program for Mechatronics Engineering.
