Seismic activity in southern Italy persisted through July 2026. After a series of shallow quakes in the Strait of Messina and Calabrian offshore zone—including magnitude‑3.7 on 4 July and 3.5 on 30 July—a stronger event struck the Campi Flegrei area near Naples on 31 July.
