Overview
In late July 2026, business groups and local officials in Andalusia renewed pressure on the Spanish government to complete a third lane on the AP‑4 motorway between Seville and Cádiz. On 6 August, regional transport councilor Mario Muñoz‑Atanet sent an urgent letter to Transport Minister Oscar Puente requesting a meeting to discuss provisional measures. Acknowledging that design, approval and construction could take years, he proposed short‑term actions such as widening shoulders and the median to alleviate the current collapse of the highway. The councilor offered full institutional collaboration, underscoring continued regional pressure while the extension remains under technical review.
