Spain digital technology labor market trends

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector in Spain is increasingly attracting young professionals. Data from Fundación VASS and the Centro de Predicciones Económicas indicates that approximately 23% of the ICT workforce is under the age of 30, which is nine percentage points higher than the broader Spanish economy. Antonio Rueda, director of Fundación VASS, stated the sector attracts youth by offering “qualified, well-remunerated positions with strong career prospects.”

Recent findings from Ametic show that the average annual gross salary in the digital technology sector has risen to 47,300 euros, a 3.1% increase from the previous year. While the market shows job stability—with 92.5% of new hires receiving permanent contracts—a significant talent shortage persists. Approximately 90.4% of organizations reported difficulties recruiting qualified professionals, despite nearly half of companies planning to expand their staff.

Salary variations are notable across functional areas, with Commercial and Marketing departments averaging 64,000 euros, and Consulting and Strategy management reaching 88,453 euros. Additionally, remote work remains a common feature, as 68.3% of companies offer telecommuting options.
