Spain’s agrifood sector continues to see record export values, with 2025 totals reaching 78,044 million euros. To manage this potential surplus, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture published regulations in the Official State Gazette allowing for the withdrawal or diversion of olive oil to maintain market stability. As of late October 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has established new marketing standards for the 2026/27 campaign to prevent market distortions. Projections estimate production at 1,602,596 tons, a 23% rise attributed to favorable spring weather and abundant rainfall. Initial stocks have also grown by 23.3% compared to the previous year. To maintain equilibrium, the Ministry may implement an exceptional mechanism to withdraw a specific percentage of olive oil from the market or redirect it toward non-food uses, with the exact percentage to be determined before November 15. In Spain, Oro Bailén aims for record production of its premium early-harvest extra virgin olive oil, forecasting the processing of approximately 15,000 tons of olives to produce over two million liters of oil.
