In observance of the International Day Against Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking of Women, Children and Adolescents, various regional authorities and equality networks in Spain have launched campaigns to combat sexual exploitation and human trafficking. In the Valencian Community, the Generalitat Valenciana launched the ‘La prostitución vive aquí’ (Prostitution lives here) campaign, warning that exploitation is shifting from visible locations to private residential apartments. Local groups in Marina Alta have also deployed campaigns targeting consumer responsibility, noting that a significant portion of minor victims are contacted via digital platforms like OnlyFans and sugar dating websites. Other regional initiatives include the Petrer City Council, which launched a campaign to frame prostitution consumption as a form of violence, and an educational lecture in Menorca featuring activist Amelia Tiganus. Tiganus, a survivor of human trafficking, discussed the links between sexual violence, pornography, and the prostitution system, advocating for abolitionist models similar to those in France. As the international observance approaches on September 23, organizations such as Apramp and Médicos del Mundo are conducting awareness campaigns in Spain. Apramp reported that 3,936 individuals were identified at risk of exploitation during the first half of 2026. Activists continue to emphasize the distinction between human trafficking—the recruitment and transport process—and exploitation, the resulting condition of the victim, while calling for legislative action against transnational criminal networks.
