Overview
The Puglia region is hosting various sporting competitions in 2026. The XI Trofeo CONI, Italy’s premier under-14 sporting event, is taking place with over 4,500 participants competing across approximately 50 different disciplines. Supported by a 600,000 euro regional investment, the event utilizes 16 facilities across Bari, Brindisi, Lecce, and Taranto.
Preparations and participation continue from various regions. A delegation from the Marche region, including a fencing team, has been preparing for the national finals. Meanwhile, a large delegation from Emilia-Romagna, consisting of nearly 270 athletes and staff, is participating. Notable representatives from the Forlì area include Celeste Treossi in athletics, Francesco Pieraccini in karate, Diego Cultrera in taekwondo, and tennis players Davide Pinto, Filippo Graziani, and Ginevra Cacchi.
During the national finals held in Bari from October 4 to 7, the Pentathlon Modena team secured a silver medal in the modern pentathlon discipline. The relay team, composed of Elena Ganzerla, Giulia Pizzi, Alessio Ferrarini, and Francesco Cinelli, competed in shooting, agility courses, and running.
This performance earned 10 points for the Emilia-Romagna regional team, contributing to their second-place finish in the overall Trofeo Coni general classification with 108 points. Emilia-Romagna finished behind Lombardia, which earned 112 points, and ahead of Lazio, which scored 106 points.
Additionally, the Trofeo delle Regioni Under 17 beach volley tournament is being held in Margherita di Savoia. Following an inauguration ceremony, qualification matches began on Monday, September 7, featuring regional pairs from across Italy, such as teams from Trentino, Alto Adige, Valle d'Aosta, Umbria, Emilia Romagna, and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
