Overview

In late July 2026 the Sri Lankan Navy intercepted an Indian fishing trawler near Talaimannar, arresting nine fishermen and seizing the vessel and equipment. A few weeks later, in early August, a separate incident saw an Indian motorboat from Tamil Nadu run aground near Neduntheevu.
