Stabbing incidents in Istanbul

Overview

In late August 2026, Istanbul experienced two separate violent incidents involving stabbings following disputes.

In the Sultangazi district, a verbal altercation between groups drinking by a roadside escalated into a physical fight. A suspect identified as Enes S. attacked a group with a knife, resulting in the death of Sinan Bıçakçı. One suspect, Sedat Ç., surrendered to authorities, while police continued to search for Enes S.

Two days later, a traffic dispute in the Şişli district escalated when a minibus driver’s brother, Yasin K., stabbed a motorcyclist, Servan E., during a right-of-way argument. The victim underwent surgery for lung damage and was reported to be in non-life-threatening condition. Yasin K. was arrested on charges of ‘intentional injury’ following the incident.
