Following the transition from summer fruit themes to autumn flavors, Japanese coffee chains have intensified their focus on sweet potato-based products. In early September, Starbucks announced its ‘Chilled Torori Mitsuimo’ lineup featuring Beni Haruka sweet potato, while Tully’s Coffee Japan launched its “OIMO” ‘OIMO’ series across approximately 850 stores. Sukiya also joined the trend on 8 September with its ‘Suki Shake Roasted Sweet Potato’. On 18 September, Starbucks Coffee Japan expanded its autumn sweet potato series with the launch of ‘Mitsuimo Milk’ (Honey Sweet Potato Milk). This new beverage, designed to highlight the rich flavors of Beni Haruka sweet potato paste mixed with milk, joins existing seasonal offerings such as the ‘Torori Mitsuimo Beni Haruka Frappuccino’ and the ‘Torori Mitsuimo Beni Haruka Mousse Tea Latte’. Expanding its seasonal variety, Starbucks Japan scheduled the launch of a ‘Pumpkin Soupchino’ for 30 September. This cappuccino-style soup features Hokkaido pumpkin and includes flavors of onion, celery, black pepper, nutmeg, and maple. The product drink is expected prepared by steaming each cup individually to be available at most locations across Japan for an indefinite period, depending on stock availability. create a frothy texture and offers soy milk as a free customization option.
