Since July 2026, the Congress-led Telangana government has faced mounting opposition over electoral roll revisions, agricultural procurement, and water management. Regarding irrigation, following a Supreme Court judgment on environmental clearances, Minister Reddy urged a time-bound approach to secure approvals for the Palamuru-Rangareddy, Sitaramasagar, Dindi, and Gouravelli lift irrigation projects. Amidst As the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, rolls progresses, Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharsan Reddy has released draft rolls following an enumeration phase where approximately 78.30 per cent of forms were collected. Approximately 92 lakh electors are expected to receive notices, including 32 lakh unmapped voters and 60 lakh electors with detail anomalies. A claims and objections phase is underway until September 16, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on October 19. This process occurs amid political tension, as the Chief Minister has urged Congress workers to remain vigilant against attempts to exclude eligible voters. This political tension coincides with new urban welfare initiatives, such as Additionally, the government has launched the Indiramma Indlu housing programme, which aims aiming to provide one lakh permanent houses to economically weaker and lower-middle-income families in Hyderabad. These developments continue to shape the state's landscape as political disputes over development, water, and voter integrity intensify ahead of upcoming elections.
