The ‘Stranger Things’ franchise is expanding through new media formats and upcoming streaming content. A spin-off titled ‘Stranger Things: Six’ is being adapted into a vertical webcomic for the WEBTOON platform. Based on a miniseries originally released by Further expanding the lore, Dark Horse Comics, is scheduled to release an 80-plus-page graphic novel adaptation of the story follows Francine (Six), a child with prophetic powers undergoing experiments at stage prequel, ‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’, in January 2027. Written by Rachel Pinnelas and illustrated by Jake Bartok, the comic will explore the origins of Henry Creel in Hawkins National Laboratory under Dr. Martin Brenner. in 1959. Netflix has released trailers for the second season of the animated prequel series ‘Stranger Things: Tales from 1985’, which is scheduled to premiere globally on September 17, 2026. The eight-episode season, consisting of half-hour installments, is set around Valentine’s Day in Hawkins. Chronologically, the story takes place between the second and third seasons of the original live-action series. The season follows the Hawkins Investigators Club—including Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Max, and Nikki—as they attempt to return to normalcy following their battle with the Horde Queen. The group encounters new supernatural threats, including mysterious blue flowers, ghostly apparitions known as ‘hate sprites’, and a mysterious blue entity that appears resistant to Eleven’s powers. The narrative will explore new locations, such as an unexplored mine beneath Hawkins, while revisiting familiar settings like Hawkins Middle School and the Palace Arcade. Showrunner Eric Robles returns, with executive production by the Duffer brothers, Shawn Levy, and Dan Cohen. Animation is provided by Australia-based Flying Bark Productions. The voice cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, Luca Diaz, Benjamin Plessala, Braxton Quinney, Elisha ‘EJ’ Williams, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Odessa A’zion, and Brett Gipson. While the trailers provide a first look at the mystery, some fan reactions have expressed mixed sentiments regarding the franchise's current direction.
