Street Fighter live‑action film development

Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures are preparing a live‑action adaptation of the Street Fighter video‑game franchise for an October 2026 theatrical release. Directed by Kitão (Kitao) Sakurai, the film is set in 1993 and follows a World Warrior Tournament that masks a larger conspiracy. The ensemble cast includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun‑Li, and Jason Momoa portraying the electric mutant Blanka. A promotional clip released on 30 July 2026 shows Momoa’s Blanka battling Ryu inside a prison‑style cage while M. Bison watches, highlighting signature moves such as Blanka’s electricity attacks and Ryu’s Hadouken. Production took place in Australia in late 2025, and the film received a PG‑13 rating for violence, language and brief smoking. The project aims to stay true to the series’ iconic characters and visual style while delivering star power and modern action for global audiences.
