Student competitions for future school designs

Overview

Students in South Korea and Malaysia have received awards for designing sustainable, technology-driven school concepts for the future.

In South Korea, students from Yeongju Jeil High School won silver in an architectural model competition. Their design for a ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Type Future School’ emphasizes energy independence through Building-Integrated Photovoltaics and ‘biophilic design’ to connect students with nature. The model also features a futuristic Earth sculpture for real-time global data and flexible spaces intended for both students and the local community to support ‘2050 Carbon Neutrality’.

In Malaysia, a group of seven primary school students from Negeri Sembilan won a digital STEM camp competition with their ‘Green Future School’ project. Their vision for 2050 incorporates wind turbines, solar panels, and artificial intelligence to conceptualize school needs. The team also developed a food-dispensing robot and a cleaning robot as part of their entry.
