This measure affects students moving to the region from other provinces, as those under 26 without local registration may face commuting costs for metro, bus, and commuter train services that are up to six times higher.
Furthermore, data from the Spanish Association of Consumers (Asescon) shows that ‘back to school’ expenses in Madrid exceed the national average. For public school students, the estimated cost is 756 euros, compared to the national average of 635 euros. Costs for subsidized and private schools are also notably higher in the region.
