Student integration and vocational training in Romania
Overview
Various educational initiatives in Romania have focused on social integration and professional development through specialized projects.
In Brașov, the Language Buddy project concluded a pilot phase aimed at the social and linguistic integration of refugee and migrant youth from Ukraine, India, and Sri Lanka. Between January and June 2026, student mentors from Transilvania University engaged in over 780 hours of mentoring to help participants improve their Romanian language skills through creative activities.
In the Alba and Slatina regions, European-funded projects have targeted vocational and technical students to facilitate labor market entry. In Alba County, internships enabled 739 students to obtain professional competency certifications. Similarly, in Slatina, the “Innovative Internship Stages for Student Inclusion” project provided internships and scholarships to 260 students, resulting in 247 participants earning professional qualifications through partnerships with commercial companies.
