Overview

Sucker Punch Productions released the ‘Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition’ for PlayStation 5. This edition includes a narrative expansion titled ‘Echoes of Sekigahara’, which offers seven to eight hours of new story content focused on the protagonist Atsu and her past. The expansion introduces the Ashoro Foothills, a region experiencing chaos from the ‘Vipers’, a group of Serpent's mercenaries. The narrative utilizes flashbacks to the Battle of Sekigahara to explore Atsu’s relationship with a character named Nagato.

The release also introduces ‘Most Wanted’, a roguelike-inspired combat survival mode designed for high replayability. Additionally, the update features the return of Jin Sakai, the protagonist from ‘Ghost of Tsushima’, as a playable character. Art Director Joanna Wang and Lead System Designer Parker Hamilton noted that the expansion aims to provide a more humanizing look at Atsu’s life before her journey of revenge.

Following the release, Sucker Punch issued Patch 2.009 to address player feedback and technical issues. This update introduced a feature for New Game+ mode, allowing players to choose between replaying the prologue or skipping directly to the open world. The patch also resolved a technical bug where characters failed to load correctly when transitioning from ‘Most Wanted’ mode back to the main story, alongside general stability fixes.
