The seismic swarm initiated by the June 8 Mw 7.7 Sulawesi Sea earthquake intensified in mid-August 2026. On August 15, a powerful Mw 7.7 earthquake struck the Flores region at a shallow depth of 10 to 15 km, centered near Nagekeo Regency.
