Supermicro shipping NVIDIA Vera Rubin infrastructure
Overview
Super Micro Computer, Inc. has begun shipping NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 racks. These systems integrate Supermicro’s Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) with its DLC-2 direct liquid cooling technology stack.
The infrastructure is designed to manage the high thermal loads of AI operations through a fluid distribution loop consisting of cold plates, manifolds, and cooling towers. This liquid cooling approach aims to achieve higher AI throughput per watt compared to air-cooling methods.
The scalable units can support up to 1,152 GPUs and 331 TB of HBM4 memory, with power capacities ranging from 5 MW to gigawatt levels. Each rack integrates 72 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs and 36 NVIDIA Vera CPUs, providing a scale-up bandwidth of 216 TB/s. Supermicro offers end-to-end services, including site surveys, design, manufacturing, testing, and on-site deployment support.
