Support for Ghana's Black Challenge amputee football team
Overview
The Black Challenge, Ghana’s national amputee football team, has received significant financial support ahead of the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.
Initially, dancehall musician Stonebwoy and the Burna Boy Music Group donated GH₵100,000 during a visit to the team’s training session. Stonebwoy used the occasion to appeal for further funding and to advocate against the ridicule of persons with disabilities.
Following this, Minister for Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku contributed an additional GH₵50,000. In addition to the cash donation, the Minister pledged an agribusiness package for eight local players, consisting of poultry equipment, birds, feed, and technical expertise via the government’s Nkoko Nketenkete poultry programme. Deputy Minister John Dumelo is set to coordinate this support once the team returns from the tournament.
